The New Plymouth Yacht Club is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for sailing enthusiasts in the local community. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just dipping your toes into the world of sailing, our club has something for everyone, including our junior and adult learn to sail programs.
For all the young adventurers out there, aged between nine and fifteen, our junior learn to sail program is the perfect way to kickstart your sailing journey. Running during the sailing season, this program provides a fantastic platform for children to learn the art of sailing using our club-owned Optimist Dinghys.
During the course, participants will be guided through three mornings of instruction, which will take place either in the September or December school holidays. We believe in hands-on experience, so after completing the course, these budding sailors will have the opportunity to participate in our club events on Saturday mornings. Additionally, they can join our Wednesday evening coaching sessions, where they can refine their skills using our club optimist yachts. This means there's no need for parents to rush into purchasing a boat right away.
But that's not all! Once they have completed the Learn to Sail course, sailors will then be invited to join our Learn to Race fleet. Here, they will revel in the thrill of fun games and races, both on and off the water. We believe that healthy competition and camaraderie go hand in hand, making this an exhilarating and enjoyable experience for our young sailors.
The cost of this amazing opportunity is just $200, which includes a range of member benefits and grants access to a club optimist dinghy for the entire season. So not only will your child develop their sailing skills, but they'll also become part of a vibrant and supportive community that actively encourages their passion for the sport.
