Stuart Lang wants to share some news with the sports community about Leadhills Golf Club, a cosy 9-hole course in the heart of Leadhills, Biggar. Conveniently placed next to the Hopetoun Arms Hotel, it's easy to find and perfect for both locals and visitors.
The club has 43 members ranging from juniors to seniors, and country members to families. Stuart appreciates the warm and welcoming atmosphere that seems to draw day visitors back to the course year after year.
Leadhills Golf Club is always looking to improve. They hope to re-affiliate with the Scottish Golf Union by the end of the year. Their efforts to enhance the course and its facilities make a big difference in the local community. For example, they've been offering coaching sessions to students from local schools. Seven pupils recently enjoyed a session with a qualified PGA coach and even received free memberships.
Working with other local groups is key to the club's success. Stuart notes that the Golf Club and the local Ski Club often collaborate, turning the fairways into nursery slopes when it snows. Community involvement is crucial, with thanks to Leadhills Estate, the Toddlers group for their fundraising efforts, and the Railway Club members who help with equipment maintenance.
