The club recently held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday 5th June. President Evan Woolnough opened the meeting and welcomed all attendees. The reports from the President, Secretary, and Treasurer were read out and accepted by the members. Following this, all positions within the club were declared vacant, and nominations for various positions were called for and received.
The new Executive Committee comprises President Jason Merrett, Vice-President Rian Boddy, Secretary Shannon Wells, and Treasurer Jim Chetcuti. Furthermore, the General Committee includes individuals such as Paul Batchelor, Harley Boland, Aaron Dickson, Jason Goss, Shaun Lewin, Jonathon MacAleer, Andrew Nicholls, Mick Peters, Richard Rule, Chris Taylor, Maree Wells, Ash Williams, Evan Woolnough, and Jordan Woolnough.
Exciting news has been announced with the appointment of an experienced coach for the upcoming season and beyond. Brent Zerafa, who has previously coached three other clubs and achieved great success, will now be leading the Laurimar Cricket Club as the new Power Coach. Brent's impressive playing career and previous coaching experience make him a valuable addition to the team. He is looking forward to meeting everyone for preseason, and more information regarding training schedules and other details will be announced soon.
While the junior footy season is currently underway, preparations for the upcoming Junior Cricket Season are also in progress. The club plans to commence preseason training in late August, and all juniors, including both boys and girls from Under 10s through to Under 18's, are invited to pre-register for the 2023-24 season. By making a holding deposit of $20, parents can secure their child's place and receive all relevant information as soon as it becomes available. The Laurimar Cricket Club has celebrated numerous achievements on the field. Notably, the 5th XI team recently won the leadingship in G1 grade, marking their second consecutive victory. The team displayed excellent bowling and batting performances, with notable contributions from players such as J. Leather, M.
Ford, M. Boyle, J. Moroney, M. Talbot, B.
McDonald, and D. Demeris.
The Women's Team has also shone, securing another leadingship in the Lorraine Ireland Summer Cup. In a thrilling match against Hurstbridge, the players demonstrated their skills and determination. T. Ashby, R.
Toohey, K. Mann, J. Hallett, and E. Scheuermann contributed vital runs to help the team reach a score of 10/143.
T. Chetcuti's bowling performances were noteworthy, taking 2/25 and contributing to the team's success.
Additionally, the Under 12 Black team, led by Cam Head, achieved great triumph by winning the leadingship for the 2022-23 season. Their exceptional performance against Mill Park showcased the talent of players such as C. Hayes, L. Head, M.
Everard, and A. Fernando.
Furthermore, the Laurimar Cricket Club's Firsts team clinched the Mash Shield premiership in the 2021-22 season, adding another milestone to the club's list of accomplishments. The club extends its congratulations to all the top Teams for their successes, particularly Under 14 1, F3, G2, and Vets A.
