The Lauren Wall School of Dance (LWSOD) is currently accepting registrations for 2024. With its team of qualified industry professionals, LWSOD is renowned for providing high-quality dance classes for children. The aim of the school is to nurture and develop talented dancers in a safe and child-centered environment.
At LWSOD, students have the option to choose between Elite and Recreational streams. The Elite Streams are designed for those who aspire to pursue professional dance careers and include additional technical classes focusing on classical ballet technique and body conditioning. On the other hand, the Recreational Streams are perfect for students who dance for enjoyment and physical activity. Regardless of the stream, LWSOD ensures that all students receive excellent training tailored to their individual needs.
One of the highlights at LWSOD is Team LWSOD, a competitive dance team that has achieved great success over the past two decades. Students have had the opportunity to showcase their skills at local and interstate National Finals. Auditions for the team are open to all students, with invitations extended to those who show great potential and enthusiasm. The team ranges from Mini's and Juniors to Intermediates and Seniors, with weekly training in various dance styles provided to all team members. Moreover, selected dancers have the exciting opportunity to compete as soloists at local competitions in Melbourne.
LWSOD also offers Classical Ballet Examinations under the prestigious BBODance (British Ballet Organisation). The Annual Ballet Examinations, held in August at the studio, focus on technique, artistry, and performance skills. Students are encouraged to participate, with LWSOD boasting a high success rate and many students achieving 100% pass rates.
In addition to ballet, LWSOD provides training and workshops in other dance styles. The school offers The Glenwood Tap, Acrolink, and IDT Global (International Dance Technique) Syllabi in all classes and age groups. The IDT syllabus emphasises agility, strength, fitness, flexibility, and strong jazz technique. It includes exercises to improve stretching and conditioning for dance movements. The Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus, on the other hand, is a comprehensive 9-level program covering individual steps, combinations, routines, performance quality, barre exercises, and turning techniques. Lastly, AcroLink is designed to develop acrobatic skills in students, focusing on building strength and flexibility.
