Hi Everyone,
Helen Pettit, the artistic director, wants to share some exciting details about Lantern Dance Theatre School in Ely. Since starting in 2005, she's built a wonderful community where everyone gets to enjoy and learn dance, no matter their age or ability.
Helen, who trained at the Rambert School in London, has created a space where everyone can grow and feel included. At Lantern, it’s all about participation, enjoyment, and doing your best. They’re proud that about half of the students have a disability, and they encourage a balanced gender ratio.
Lantern offers something for everyone. Kids as young as 3 can join the Playdance class, while older students can explore Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, and Balletone. Helen and the team reckon it’s important to give classes a try before jumping in, so they're offering free trial sessions for all classes.
The spring term starts on Tuesday 9th January 2024 and runs until Thursday 17th February. Classes are held at The Paradise Centre. Here’s a quick rundown:
- Balletone: Tuesdays, 12:30 - 1:30
- Other dance classes: Fridays, 11:00 - 12:00
There's more than just classes on offer. Lantern organises regular performances, like the free Lunchtime Concert in the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral each August. It's a great chance for students to show what they've learned and for the community to enjoy some beautiful dance.
Helen and the school are dedicated to helping everyone achieve their best in a supportive environment. If you're keen on dance and want to be part of a lively and inclusive community, Lantern Dance Theatre School is the place for you.
Cheers,
