About our upcoming Dolphins Dash Meet. It's an exciting event that our club is hosting, and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to bring together swimmers from our region for a day of friendly competition. The Dolphins Dash Meet will be held at Salt Ayre Sports Centre, our home base, which offers excellent facilities for both swimming and water polo.
In terms of swimming, we have a comprehensive development programme that caters to athletes ranging from stage 6 swimming to National events. We strongly encourage our swimmers to participate in our club galas and Open Meets throughout the year. These events not only allow our swimmers to improve their personal best times but also serve as platforms for them to qualify for County Championships, Regional Championships, and even National Championships. We're incredibly proud of the achievements of our swimmers in multi-sport competitions.
When it comes to water polo, we are undeniably one of the most successful clubs in the UK. With an impressive record of nine British Championship titles and eleven Senior National titles, we have established ourselves as a force to be reckoned with. Our club boasts five Olympic water polo players, two Great Britain water polo coaches, and over 20 players who have represented Great Britain and various regional teams. We offer mini polo for children who simply want to have some fun, as well as opportunities for our members to play at the regional and GB levels.
Our teams regularly participate in national and regional competitions.
Our club has a rich history that spans over 130 years. Since our establishment in 1889, we have continuously nurtured and developed talent in both swimming and water polo. Today, we remain the only club in the Lancaster District that provides competitive opportunities in both sports. Our club holds numerous national and regional titles and is well-represented in various competitive leagues.
We are fortunate to have the support of dedicated individuals within our club. While we recently bid farewell to our esteemed Water Polo Head Coach Andrew Wilson, we express our gratitude for the years of support he has provided to the club. We wish him well in his future endeavours. We also celebrate the achievements of members like Ava, who recently passed her Level 2 Swim Teaching Qualification.
The growth of our members, both as athletes and aquatics experts, is something we greatly value.
In addition to our regular updates and news about our club activities, we also believe in promoting the importance of mental health. We recognise that swimming not only benefits physical health but also contributes to mental well-being. On World Mental Health Day, we encourage our members and the wider community to check in with each other and provide support where needed.
If you're interested in joining our competitive swim club, we invite you to attend our open trial day. It's a fantastic opportunity to experience the club environment and see if it's the right fit for you. We're always excited to welcome new members who share our passion for swimming and water polo.
