Of the local parkrun community. I love the sense of community and support that comes from being part of a running club, so I decided to join LRC and eventually take on a role within the committee. As President, I am dedicated to ensuring that LRC provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for runners and walkers of all levels.
Running has always been a part of my life, but it wasn't until I joined Lalor Running Club that I truly found my passion for the sport. I love pushing myself to new limits and achieving personal goals, and being part of LRC has helped me do just that. As Vice President, I am committed to assisting the President in their role and supporting the needs of our members.
As Secretary, I am the main point of contact for external organisations and members. I handle club correspondence, maintain records, and assist in organising club events and meetings. I love being involved in the administrative side of things and ensuring the smooth running of the club.
As Treasurer, I am responsible for managing the club's finances and ensuring we have the resources to support our activities. Furthermore, I work closely with the committee to establish and monitor the club's budget, manage membership fees, and handle financial transactions. My goal is to ensure the club remains financially stable and sustainable.
As Head Coach, I oversee the coaching programmes and training sessions offered by Lalor Running Club. I hold a Level 2 coaching accreditation from Athletics Victoria and have experience coaching runners of all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes. I am dedicated to helping our members improve their running technique, build endurance, and achieve their goals.
LALOR RUNNING CLUB is not just about running, but also about building friendships and supporting each other. We offer a variety of training sessions throughout the week, led by our experienced coaching team and run leaders. Whether you're a beginner looking to start running or an experienced runner aiming to improve, we have something for everyone.
- Tuesdays at 7:30pm at Meadowglen International Athletics Track: This is a coach-led session that focuses on speed and interval training to improve overall fitness and performance.
- Thursdays at 7pm in Lalor and surrounding suburbs: These group runs are a great way to socialise and explore different areas while getting in some quality kilometres.
- Sundays at 8am (in winter) in Lalor and surrounding suburbs: These longer runs are designed to build endurance and prepare runners for longer distance events.
In addition to our regular training sessions, Lalor Running Club also participates in parkrun, a free timed 5 km walk or run held every Saturday at 8am in over 380 locations across Australia. It's a great way to get involved in the local running community and track your progress.
For beginners with little or no running background, we offer the Walk2Run programme. With the support of trained running coaches and fellow LRC members, this programme will transform you from a couch potato to a regular runner, even exceeding 5 km in just two months. The programme costs $50, which includes an annual membership to the club.
At Lalor Running Club, we believe in the importance of mental health alongside physical fitness. We have dedicated mental health officers who are available to provide support and guidance to our members. We also have a blog and podcast, LRC DNF Ultra, where we share stories, training tips, and interviews to inspire and motivate our community.
If you have any questions about our training programmes or want to connect with our coaches and committee members, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are a volunteer-led club and are always here to help and support you on your running journey.
Join Lalor Running Club today and kickstart your running journey in a supportive and inclusive environment. Don't dream of winning, train for it!
