About
Kyushin Ryu Aikido is a martial arts club and after-school programme located in Ingle Farm, Australia. With a focus on Aikido, Jujitsu, and personal wellness, Kyushin Ryu Aikido offers a comprehensive range of services to individuals of all ages and fitness levels.
Led by a team of highly skilled and experienced instructors, Kyushin Ryu Aikido is dedicated to promoting the pre-modern Aikido tradition introduced by Sensei Kenshiro Abbe to the UK in 1954. Our instructors include Carl Withey Shihan, Saikou Shihan, and Sensei Mikhayl Von Rieben, who are experts in Aikido and Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu. Additionally, Sensei Fraser Thompson and Sensei Aaliyah Zamora offer their expertise in Aikido and Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu.
At Kyushin Ryu Aikido, we offer a range of programmes and classes to suit the needs and goals of our members. Our Kyushin-Ryu Aikido programme allows individuals to discover the rich traditions of Aikido and improve their physical fitness, mental focus, and self-defence skills. We also offer Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu, which incorporates battle-tested techniques derived from the Hoshiyama tradition.
For those interested in honing their sword-fighting skills, we offer Kenjutsu and Battojutsu training. These classes promote mindfulness, body coordination, and personal well-being through the study of traditional sword techniques.
Kyushin Ryu Aikido is also proud to offer specialised programmes such as women's self-defence, tailored to meet the specific needs and concerns of women in today's society. Our youth martial arts programmes are designed to build children's self-esteem, leadership skills, and cognitive development, while also providing a fun and engaging way to stay physically active. We are an accredited provider of SA Sports Vouchers for eligible participants.
In addition to our regular programmes, we have developed a range of youth empowerment, safety, and engagement programmes for community centres and youth organisations. We also partner with the Duke of Edinburgh International Award to deliver the Duke4Sport programme.
For those seeking a unique and thrilling experience, Kyushin Ryu Aikido offers the Sabre Academy, where the worlds of martial arts, lightsabres, and live-action roleplay combine to create something truly special. Suitable for ages seven to adult, the Sabre Academy provides an exciting and dynamic training environment for individuals to learn combat skills using foam lightsabres.
We also offer our Hero Academy programme, a fantastic introduction to martial arts training for children aged 3 to 5 years, fostering their physical development, discipline, and coordination.
