About

Kyokushin Karate: London Dojo is a martial arts school located in London, United Kingdom. As a traditional Karate school, they follow the teachings of Kyokushin Karate as it is taught in Japan.

The London Dojo offers two training locations: London Dojo 1, located at St Mary's Hall, and London Dojo 2, located in the Blue Beetle Room. These venues provide a suitable environment for students to train and improve their skills in Kyokushin Karate.

The Kyokushin Karate syllabus at the London Dojo provides a clear pathway for students to learn and progress. The school offers various levels of training, from beginners to advanced, ensuring that students of all skill levels are able to develop their martial arts abilities. The grading requirements are carefully designed to challenge and motivate students to push themselves to reach their full potential.

At Kyokushin Karate: London Dojo, they emphasise the values of the Karate way, which includes building character, training the mind and body, and contributing to society. Following the spirit of Kyokushin, they promote humility, ambition, serenity, filial piety, and benefiting others. The school firmly believes in equality and does not promote or practise discrimination based on ethnicity, race, nationality, politics, philosophy, religion, sex, or age. They strive for international friendship and world peace through the practise of Kyokushin Karate.

The founder of Kyokushinkai Karate, Masutatsu Oyama, has left a remarkable legacy in the world of martial arts. Born in 1923 in South Korea, Mas Oyama studied various martial arts disciplines and eventually became a pupil of Gichin Funakoshi. His dedication and exceptional skills earned him recognition and numerous achievements, including winning the All Japan Karate Championship. After spending a year in solitude, practising and meditating, Mas Oyama became renowned for his rigorous training methods and extraordinary feats, such as breaking trees and rocks with his bare hands.

His influence has led to the establishment of Kyokushinkai dojos in over 123 countries worldwide.

The symbol of Kyokushinkai Karate is the Kanku, derived from the Kanku Kata. The design of the Kanku represents the fingers, symbolising strength and power. The central part of the symbol signifies infinity and depth, while the enclosing circle represents continuity and circular action. Overall, the Kanku embodies the essence of Kyokushin Karate, encompassing the pursuit of ultimate truth and meeting and joining others on this path.

Kyokushin Karate: London Dojo is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Their experienced instructors are dedicated to helping students develop their skills and achieve their goals. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, the London Dojo welcomes all individuals who are passionate about Kyokushin Karate and are eager to improve themselves both physically and mentally.
