Growing up in an active family, Kylie could often be found in the water swimming, boating, or canoeing. Her passion for teaching others to enjoy the water blossomed during a year-long adventure in the USA, where she worked at a summer camp and assisted lifeguards and learn-to-swim teachers. After returning to Australia, Kylie quickly immersed herself in the swim teaching industry, starting at her local swim school and eventually rising to a management position at Paul Sadler Swimland in Victoria.

She was even chosen to oversee the company's first interstate venture in Townsville.

After a successful career in the swim teaching industry, Kylie took a break to further develop her business skills in a different field. However, her true passion for swim teaching led her back to Townsville in 2017, where she opened her own franchised swim school. Despite facing challenges such as floods and a pandemic, Kylie's Swim School thrived and was awarded the prestigious 'Townsville's Best Swim School' in 2020. In 2021, Kylie rebranded her business to reflect her values and philosophy of nurturing skilled, safe, and confident swimmers for life.

The growth of Kylie's Rasmussen Swim School in 2022 prompted her to expand her business and open a second location in Garbutt, Townsville.
