Our skipper, Ken Hamilton, has over 25 years of experience and is extremely knowledgeable about the Swains Reef, Capricorn Bunker Group, Shoalwater Bay, Island Head, and Port Clinton areas. He is a partner in our business and is dedicated to the comfort and safety of all our guests. The MV KONA is our 18. 25 aluminium cruiser, powered by twin Scania 011/130 hp engines. With a cruising speed of 8–10 knots, KONA is stable, spacious, and comfortable. It has a beam of 5.

8 metres, combined with Niadd hydraulic roll control stabilisers and a bulbous bow. Our vessel is equipped with all modern safety equipment and features JRC Radar, Fishfinder, GPS Plotter, and Auto Pilot for your convenience.

When it comes to accommodation and facilities, KONA offers 2 cabins with 3 bunks each, and 1 cabin with 4 bunks. All cabins are air-conditioned and have ensuite bathrooms with toilets and showers. The saloon and dining area are also air-conditioned. We have two 2500-litre fresh water tanks on board, and a desalination unit is available if required.

For your entertainment, we have a LED TV, DVD player, and stereo system.

Meals are provided on board and consist of varied daily wholesome home-style cooking. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as provide coffee, tea, and nibblies throughout the day. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know in advance, and we'll accommodate your needs.

When joining us on a fishing charter, make sure to bring your own refreshments, fishing gear, tackle (or ask us if you require assistance), towel, sunscreen, camera, and hat. We want to ensure you have everything you require for a comfortable and enjoyable fishing experience.

At Kona, we offer a range of charter options, allowing you to customise your trip based on your preferences. Bookings can be made for a minimum of 3 days up to a maximum of 10 days. Our vessel is designed to accommodate a maximum of 10 passengers and 3 crew members.

One of our popular charter options is the Swains Reef, which is a must-visit for fishing enthusiasts. Situated 100 nautical miles north-east of Yeppoon, it is located at the bottom end of the Great Barrier Reef. The Swains Reef offers live coral reefs, crystal clear lagoons, and coral cays. You'll find an abundance of reef fish and pelagic fish, and you can choose to fish the shallow reefs or deep drop-offs.

Species such as Emperor, Redthroat, Trout, and Spanish Mackeral are some highlights.

Another fantastic option is the Shoalwater Bay and Island Head charter, which requires a minimum of 5 days. This area is known for its excellent fishing during the summer months. Whether you're targeting reef fish or pelagic species, this charter will not disappoint.
