Debamitra Sengupta, this esteemed academy has been fostering passion and precision in the art of Odissi dance since November 1, 2004. Nestled at 12-D/4/1, D. P. Road, Naktala, the academy's vision extends beyond mere performance; it strives to create well-rounded individuals proficient in the entire spectrum of classical dance.

Debamitra Sengupta brings unparalleled expertise and dedication to her role as Director. Beginning her journey at the tender age of 20 at Gurukul, she honed her teaching skills over a decade before venturing into her own academy. Her passion is woven into the curriculum, providing students with a deep understanding of Natyashastra and traditional Odissi choreography, while also encouraging creativity and innovation in dance.

The curriculum is comprehensive, incorporating lessons in Classical music, Pakhawaj, and Yoga, ensuring that students attain physical fitness and a nuanced understanding of music and rhythm. Regular workshops enrich the learning experience, offering additional training in dance techniques, makeup, costumes, hair styling, and stagecraft, thus grooming students into consummate dancers over a rigorous 10-year program.

Students at Mayur Lalit are categorized into junior or senior groups based on their ability and passion rather than age or previous experience. Affiliated with Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, and registered under ‘The West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961’, the academy maintains a structured syllabus and examination schedule, ensuring the highest standards of classical dance education.
