Jason, the organiser of Kofukan Karate New Zealand – Ponsonby, is excited to share a few updates with the sports community. Located in the heart of Auckland, Kofukan Karate is a welcoming space for all kids and teens, both boys and girls, with a mission to promote diversity and inclusivity through karate.
Partnering with Sport NZ, Kofukan Karate provides a safe and supportive environment where young people can develop discipline, mental focus, self-defence skills, physical coordination, and confidence. Parents of teenagers can also stay engaged in their kids' lives while helping them build friendships and a sense of purpose through physical fitness and self-confidence.
Recognised by Sport NZ and the World Karate Federation as the leading body for karate in New Zealand, Kofukan Karate New Zealand – Ponsonby is a voluntary, non-profit group committed to growing karate opportunities for all Kiwis. They offer seminars, coaching clinics, and training camps to help members master both traditional and sport karate.
Regional and national tournaments are also on the agenda, giving members a chance to compete in sport karate at their own level. With ties to national and international bodies, there are opportunities for everyone—from grassroots local karate kids to elite athletes aiming for the top.
Life Members at Kofukan Karate are celebrated for their long service and commitment. These members are pillars of the community, much like well-known figures in the larger New Zealand sporting scene.
Jason ensures the community stays connected and informed via social media and club directories. Regular updates about events, news, and championships keep everyone in the loop. As a leading karate school in Auckland, Kofukan Karate New Zealand – Ponsonby is committed to providing a supportive space for people of all ages and backgrounds to flourish in their martial arts journey.
