Kintbury Bowling Club is a friendly and welcoming bowling club located in the rural town of Kintbury, Hungerford. With a history dating back to 1925, the club prides itself on its strong sense of community and camaraderie.
With just 35 members, Kintbury Bowls Club may be a small village team, but they have achieved remarkable success. They have recently won both leagues they participate in – the Ashley Baker League, consisting of 10 teams from Berkshire and Oxfordshire, and the KLV League, a men-only league in which they were in Division 3. Their achievements are particularly impressive considering that many of the clubs they compete against have substantially larger memberships.
The club offers the opportunity for anyone interested in the sport to come along and try their hand. Whether experienced or completely new to the game, individuals of all ages are encouraged to join. Those interested in joining can contact the club's secretary for more information at kintburybowlingclub@gmail. Com.
During summer, which runs from mid-April to the beginning of September, the club plays outdoors on their green. In the winter months, they continue to meet up by playing short mat bowls. Additionally, the club organises various events and activities to keep members engaged and social throughout the year, including quiz nights and skittles.
Kintbury Bowling Club is led by a dedicated team of committee members, including Brian Taylor as President, Glynn Watts as Chairman, Vicky Prater as Secretary and Friendly Secretary, Robin Hunter as Ashley Baker, KLV and Club Captain, and Colin Billingham as Treasurer.
The club also offers a unique opportunity for members to support their fundraising efforts while shopping online. By clicking on the Easyfunding icon and creating an account, members can make donations to the club without any additional cost to themselves. Supported retailers will provide donations to the club whenever purchases are made through the Easyfunding portal.
Overall, Kintbury Bowling Club is a vibrant and inclusive club that provides a welcoming environment for individuals to enjoy the sport of lawn bowls, participate in friendly competitions, and forge lasting friendships within the community.
