Kingston Wildcats is a men's basketball team based in New Malden, Surrey. We are proud members of the Surrey Basketball League and have a strong presence in the local basketball community. Our team was formed on the 25th of February 1983 and since then, we have achieved significant milestones in our basketball journey.
Our team trains every Wednesday night, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. We welcome anyone over the age of 18 years old to join us and be a part of our basketball family. Our training sessions provide an opportunity for players of all skill levels to develop their basketball skills, improve their fitness, and enjoy the camaraderie of the sport.
We are fortunate to have Richard Chancellor School as our training venue. Unfortunately, we do not accommodate drop-in players for training sessions. However, if you are interested in joining our team, please contact us through the provided channels.
Throughout our history, we have participated in various leagues and competitions, showcasing our passion for the sport. In 1994/95, we joined the NBL division three south and reached the final of the National Founders Cup in 1996. Although we were beaten over two legs by the US Air Force team from Menwith Hill, this experience fueled our determination to succeed.
In 2000, we achieved a significant milestone by winning the Division Two Playoff final at Wembley against Manchester Magic, earning promotion to the National League division one. This promotion was conditional on finding a 500-seat venue for our home games. With the support of local MP Ed Davey and Kingston Council, we secured Tolworth Recreation Centre as our new home for National League basketball and moved our games to the Kingston Arena at Kingston College in September 2003.
Over the years, we have faced both victories and challenges, including the withdrawal from EBL division one due to the loss of a main sponsor in June 2006. However, we have continued to show resilience, winning the National Founders Cup in April 2009 and the Trojans Wildcats Trophy in July 2009 and 2010.
At Kingston Wildcats, we are always open to new members and sponsorships. If you are a local business in the Kingston area looking for an opportunity to support a local sports team, please don't hesitate to contact us. Your sponsorship will directly contribute to the development of our team, allowing us to continue competing and achieving success both on and off the court.
