Welcome to Kingston Aikido Club in Kingston upon Thames! Founded back in 2003 by Sue Taylor and Thomas Nogues, the club now thrives under the leadership of Fernando Raposo, with chief instructor Ali Khan and a great team of assistant instructors.
Aikido, a Japanese martial art rooted in harmony and peace, goes beyond physical strength. Instead, it teaches you to use your opponent's energy against them. Whether you're throwing, joint-locking, striking, or working with traditional Japanese weapons like the sword and the staff, Aikido has a place for everyone.
Ali Khan sensei is passionate about the benefits of Aikido, from self-defence to staying calm under pressure. Meanwhile, Fernando Raposo sensei focuses on centralisation, breathing, and blending with your training partners.
Classes run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00pm to 9:30pm at Kingston University Fitness Centre on Penrhyn Road (KT1 2EE). It's £9 for waged participants and £7 for unwaged/students. Beginners and experienced martial artists alike are welcome in this friendly and inclusive community.
