About
King's College Boat Club (KCBC) invites you to join them on the Cam in Cambridge. Led by dedicated students, KCBC has proudly represented rowing for over 180 years and stands as the largest sports club at King's College.
Joe Bloggs, the organiser, wants you to know that rowing experience isn't a requirement here - most members, including Joe and the three captains, started from scratch in the Novice Rowing programmes during Michaelmas and Easter Terms. For those with prior experience, there are senior crew positions ranging from intense training regimens to relaxed social boats. Plus, KCBC members often try out for the University team in the famous Boat Race against Oxford, with King's celebrating its first men's Blue since 1953 in 2022.
The refurbished boathouse, just a ten-minute cycle from the College, offers modern facilities to maximise your training. Off the water, KCBC has a thriving social scene with events like informal crew meals, trips, and black-tie dinners every term, attracting many alumni who eagerly return.
Founded in 1838, KCBC has a storied history and has persisted through world wars and pandemics. Famous alumni include Alan Turing, Lindsay Burns, and Adrian Cadbury. The women's side, initially formed in 1973 as the Queen Margaret of Anjou Boat Club, merged with the men’s club in 1996, and they’ve rowed together under KCBC ever since.
Joe is thrilled to welcome new members. Dive into the world of rowing with KCBC and build lasting friendships along the way. See you at the boathouse!
