Kinetic Gymnastics is an inclusive gymnastics club located in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Established in 2009 as Cre-8 Gymnastics, the club became Kinetic Gymnastics in 2010 after separating from King Alfred's School. Currently, the club has around 100 members and offers both recreational and squad classes for children aged 5 and above.
The club prides itself on being friendly and welcoming, catering to a wide range of abilities. It is registered with the British Gymnastics Association, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Classes are held at various locations in and around Didcot, with most classes taking place at Wantage Leisure Centre.
Gymnasts at Kinetic Gymnastics train between 1 and 15 hours per week, depending on their ability and commitment. Both boys and girls are welcome to join the recreational classes, although the club specialises in women's artistic gymnastics at the squad level. Gymnasts travel from all over Oxfordshire to attend the club's classes, providing opportunities for shared lifts and the chance to make new friends.
Classes at Kinetic Gymnastics are based on various disciplines such as the balance beam, asymmetric bars, vault, floor work, and range and conditioning exercises. These classes aid in the development of essential measures of fitness, including strength, stamina, speed, and suppleness. Additionally, gymnastics helps build both mental and physical confidence in children and young people.
Kinetic Gymnastics offers different levels of classes, and gymnasts from the recreational classes may be invited to attend the Advanced or Squad gym classes based on their commitment and ability. The club's coaches include founder Chris Seelig, who is the Head Coach and holds qualifications in Women's Artistic, Men's Artistic, Tumbling, and Double Mini Tramp. Other coaches at Kinetic Gymnastics include Rachel Powdril, an experienced level 3 general gymnastics coach with trampoline qualifications, Jane Deane, a level 2 general gymnastics coach who also specialises in hairstyling, and Laura Seelig, a level 1 women's artistic coach who is currently studying for an MSc.
To join one of Kinetic Gymnastics' classes, interested individuals can start by filling out the Waiting List Form. The club also has a fundraising group called the “Friends of Kinetic Gymnasts” who raise funds to support the gymnasts in reaching their potential. New classes and updates are regularly posted on the club's website and social media.
