About
Got a passion for karate? Join the Kimberley Shotokan Karate Club! Whether you're just starting out or already have a black belt, Sensei Jono has got sessions for everyone. On Tuesdays, beginners train from 6 to 7 pm, then a mixed group goes from 7 to 8 pm. Thursdays are for advanced karatekas from 7 to 8 pm. On Saturdays, come for a mixed session from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. It’s only 3 quid per session, cash preferred.
To keep things smooth, Jono asks that you book your spot on their website and cancel if you can’t make it, so someone else can jump in.
Got a heart for giving? The club turns their dojo pink for World Cancer Day, raising funds for cancer awareness. Last year, they donated 140 quid! They also host cool seminars, like the one with Sensei Katsu Tiru, who was seriously impressed with everyone's skills.
Catch them at local events like the Basill Russell Family Fun Day, showcasing karate techniques, kata, kumite, and even weapons. Friends and family are always welcome to watch.
Don’t miss out on future events like the Mix Up Sessions in July or the Summer Kata Competition. Book your spot through the website – remember, you can only book two weeks in advance and there's a fee for no-shows due to limited spaces.
Founded in 1989, the Kimberley Shotokan Karate Club isn’t just about karate – it’s about building fitness, self-defence skills, and confidence. The inclusive vibe means everyone from kids to adults can grow and thrive together. Keep fit, stay sharp, and have a blast with Sensei Jono and the gang!
