Registrations have officially opened for the 2023 I tried the Tris kids triathlon series, an exciting event that promises plenty of fun and challenges for young athletes. With different course distances tailored to various age groups, this event caters to children of all abilities.
For the little ones aged 4 to 6, the course involves a 300m run, 600m cycle, and a 1-length swim in the teaching pool. Kids aged 7 have a slightly more demanding challenge with a 750m run, 1.5k cycle, and a 25m swim. As for the 8 to 9-year-olds, they will embark on a 750m run, 1.5k cycle, and a 50m swim. Lastly, children aged 10 to 12 will face a 1.5k run, 3k cycle, and a 100m swim.
The event will take place at Skoglund Park and Freyberg Community Pool, situated in the wonderful city of Palmerston North. To secure a spot in this thrilling event, interested participants must complete the entry and consent form waiver no later than the 10th of February. Thankfully, registration can be conveniently done either online via the club's website or in-person on the race day itself.
For individual children, the entry fee is set at $20 if paid before the 10th of February, after which it increases to $25. Families of three or more can register together for a discounted rate of $60 before the 10th of February, and $75 thereafter. We also have a special treat for our club members, as they can participate for free if they pre-register by the 10th of February.
In an exciting twist, the Manawatu Triathlon Club will be rewarding schools that demonstrate outstanding student participation with sports vouchers. The winning schools will be selected based on a combination of roll size and the number of students who partake in the event. So rally your classmates and get ready to compete to bring home those vouchers!
