Paul Gledhill wants to share a few exciting updates from Kenyukan Dojo Stevenage, based in Knebworth, Hertfordshire.
Since 1976, this dojo has been teaching authentic Japanese swordsmanship and staff arts, focusing on developing both physical skills and mental discipline. Paul believes that confidence, disciplined movements, and inner peace are the cornerstones of a great martial artist. With experienced instructors, the dojo ensures top-notch training, helping students achieve their best.
Kenyukan Dojo Stevenage is a place where martial arts are taught as both a physical and spiritual practice. This offers a refuge from life's stresses, allowing students to gain self-awareness and maintain focus during challenging times. This sense of awareness helps in making better decisions and staying calm under pressure.
With support from Kenyukan Suffolk Dojo, they preserve Japanese martial arts traditions that are over 450 years old. Here, you can train in various Japanese sword arts like Kenjutsu, Kendo Kata, Iaido, Jodo, and Tanjo.
Training sessions run every Sunday afternoon, welcoming adults, young adults with parental consent, and kids aged 8 and above with a parent. There’s also a beginner's course for newcomers and private tuition for those interested – do speak with the dojo leaders for more details.
Paul is pleased to update everyone on the remarkable achievements of the dojo members. In October 2023, students Chris, Mohammed, and Sam Davis passed their respective Iaido Kyu gradings, while Colin Umeyama nailed both his Iaido and Jodo Kyu gradings. The dojo also made a splash at the British Kendo Association National Iaido Championship, bagging medals in several categories.
To sum up, Paul and the Kenyukan Dojo Stevenage team invite you to join them and experience the physical and mental benefits of Japanese sword arts. Dive into this journey of self-improvement and inner tranquillity – they’re excited to welcome new faces and celebrate every success together!
