Kensho Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial arts club located in Consett, County Durham. The club offers classes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) for men, women, and children starting from the age of 6. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, Kensho BJJ welcomes individuals of all skill levels.

The club is committed to helping its members develop their BJJ skills and achieve their personal best, not just in martial arts but also in life. The coaches at Kensho BJJ have years of proven experience in BJJ training and competition, constantly seeking to expand their martial arts knowledge through their own ongoing learning and development.

One unique and exciting feature of Kensho BJJ is their female-led classes. With classes taught by their female coach, Amy, the club aims to create a safe and empowering environment for women to learn and excel in BJJ. These classes are held every Friday from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. The sessions are designed to help women get fit, lose weight, learn self-defence, build confidence, and make new friends.

Kensho BJJ acknowledges that joining a martial art can be intimidating for females, and Coach Amy ensures that the classes are welcoming and supportive for all women.

In addition to BJJ classes, Kensho BJJ is also introducing Yoga for BJJ classes in the near future. These classes will be open to everyone, regardless of whether they practise BJJ or not. Suitable for all abilities, Yoga for BJJ classes will be led by Coach Amy, a Level 2 Yoga for BJJ qualified instructor. Incorporating yoga into their training sessions helps Kensho BJJ students maximise their movement during training while aiding in their recovery.

Kensho BJJ operates as a not-for-profit martial arts club. Their focus is on building a welcoming environment and supporting their members on their BJJ journey. They are proud members of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association and are now affiliated with the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Globe Trotters. Kensho BJJ is constantly striving to provide comprehensive and detailed classes to ensure their students consistently progress on and off the mats.
