Join Kendal Fencing Club every Wednesday evening from 19:30 – 21:00 for an action-packed session of fencing. Led by the committed Alex, the club is the perfect place for sports enthusiasts to sharpen their skills and enjoy the thrill of the sport.
Running from September through July, these evenings are your weekly rendezvous for practising footwork, sparring, and getting valuable tips from seasoned coaches. Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned fencer, Alex ensures a supportive and welcoming environment that caters to everyone. The session kicks off with a warm-up, followed by focused coaching on footwork and technique. After honing your skills, dive into free fencing with your mates, using both electric and steam fencing equipment.
Starting out? No problem! Alex and the team offer comprehensive beginner training covering everything from safety rules to mastering the three weapons: foil, épée, and sabre. Just bring your non-marking trainers and appropriate clothing, and you'll be ready to fence. You can borrow all necessary gear for free, and the coaches will even guide you if you decide to buy your own equipment.
Kendal Fencing Club prides itself on being accessible. With annual subs just £40 and a £5 fee per night for seniors, it's affordable for all. Visiting fencers are also welcome for just £10 per night.
Located at Kendal Leisure Centre on Burton Road, the venue features a spacious main hall perfect for all fencing activities. Should you need any help finding your way, the leisure centre staff are always ready to assist.
