Kempe Fitness & Fighting is Cold Lake's top Mixed Martial Arts club, offering a wide range of programs such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, wrestling, and Pilates. The gym boasts over 1600sqft of high-density matted flooring, providing a safe and comfortable space for members to train. The classes are designed for beginners to advanced fighters, with a focus on teaching proper techniques and providing a challenging workout.
The team of blue and purple belt BJJ instructors, led by 1st degree black belt Professor Bernie Antle, are highly skilled and accredited, offering professional instruction to help members progress through the ranks. The classes cover stand-up, clinch, and ground techniques, using various martial arts disciplines such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Russian Sambo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Wrestling. Emphasis is placed on being able to apply techniques effectively against resistant opponents.
The Adult BJJ Program runs 5 days a week, offering both Gi and No Gi classes. The Youth BJJ Program is divided into two age groups, allowing younger members to train in a safe and age-appropriate environment. Classes are fast-paced and challenging, but new members are encouraged to progress at their own pace. The instructors provide modifications and personalized feedback to cater to individual fitness levels and abilities.
