Kearsney Bowling Club

In terms of recent news, one notable event was the River Challenge Shield. The club held a coffee morning attended by members from both clubs, River BC and Kearsney, to introduce a new challenge shield as part of River BC's centenary celebrations. Named “The River Challenge Shield,” it will be played for annually by the two clubs in mixed triples, starting at Kearsney in 2024. The long-term goal is to expand the contest to two matches per year, allowing for home and away fixtures.

As the new year began, Kearsney Bowling Club wished all its members and friends a happy and healthy new year, emphasising the importance of everyone's well-being.

The club also organises various social events. For instance, the clubhouse is arranging a Sunday lunch on January 14, 2024. The menu will consist of beef and a selection of vegetables, accompanied by a dessert. The cost per person is 10, and interested individuals can book their place by signing up in the clubhouse or by contacting Lyn directly.

Lunch will be served at 1 pm, following the opening at 12:30 pm. Additionally, there will be a few games of Bingo to enjoy after lunch. The club bar will be open as usual to enhance the social experience.

Another exciting event organised by Kearsney Bowling Club is the Quiz Night, scheduled for January 20, 2024. Rosemary Peto is managing the arrangements, and participants are encouraged to bring their own nibbles. The club bar will also be open, and a raffle prize would be greatly appreciated. At the annual presentation held in the clubhouse, the club's captains, Sheila Swinerd and Guy Peto, handed over a cheque for 850 to Keith Howe, representing SERV Kent. SERV Kent is a charity that offers emergency courier services for transporting blood products and other essential items to hospitals and hospices outside of normal working hours. The club raised the funds through home matches and a special one-day tournament, with SERV being the designated charity for the season.
