At Kazen Kai Martial Arts Chelmsford, we are proud to offer excellent teaching of traditional Martial Arts, including Karate, Kick Boxing, and Taekwondo. We also provide Self-defence and Fitness classes for all ages and abilities. Established in 2001, our martial arts school has four full-time centres in Essex, as well as satellite clubs across Essex, Kent, North East England, and Jersey.

We believe in the spirit of Kazen, which translates to 'natural result' in English. This spirit is reflected in our teaching style, where we emphasise hard work and dedication to achieve natural results in martial arts. The term Kai translates to 'school,' making Kazen Kai the school of natural results.

Our school was formed in 2001 when Sensei Kidd and his instructors felt it was time to leave the Ishinryu Karate Association and develop their own style of teaching. In 2002, we opened our first full-time Martial Arts centre in Hutton, Brentwood. Since then, Kazen Kai has grown in strength, with additional full-time centres in Chelmsford, Harlow, and Maldon. We also have satellite clubs in Kent, Sherborne, Jersey, and Tyne and Wear.

As one of the founder members of the English United Karate Federation (EUKF), Kazen Kai is recognised as a leading authority in Karate in England. We offer traditional Karate with our grading system and WUKF competition Karate with our squad sessions. Additionally, we provide Kick Boxing, Taekwondo, and Self-defence classes. Whether you are looking to have fun or compete, Kazen Kai will provide you with the quality instruction and skills to excel.

Our Chief Instructor, Sensei Simon Kidd, has been training in martial arts since 1972. He learned from his late father, Sensei Fred Kidd, as well as other renowned instructors. Sensei Kidd represented both Great Britain and England in Karate competitions, winning multiple individual and team titles. He was part of the Great Britain team that won gold in the World Championships in 1988.

In recognition of his coaching career, Sensei Kidd was honoured with the prestigious 'Coach of the Year' award by Brentwood Borough Council in 2001. He was also awarded his 7th Dan in 2014.
