Katie Ventress wants to share some exciting news with the local sports community about her dance school, located right here in York—the Katie Ventress School of Dance. Offering a variety of classes in ISTD Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre Dance, Contemporary Dance, Drama, and Musical Theatre, this school has built a reputation for its top-notch training and supportive environment.
Katie runs the school from a purpose-built dance studio on James Street in York. It's kitted out with mirrors, ballet barres, and a shock-absorbent, non-slip dance floor, giving students the perfect setting to hone their skills and express themselves.
A unique feature of Katie’s school is the focus on early childhood ballet. She welcomes children as young as 2-2.5 years old to her Melody Movement classes, where parents can join until the kids are about 4. It’s a great way for little ones to fall in love with dance.

Katie herself trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. With her professional dance experience and extensive teaching background, she’s committed to providing exceptional training. Many of her students have gone on to prestigious dance institutions like Arts Educational Schools, Urdang Academy, Italia Conti, Doreen Bird, and The Royal Ballet School.
All classes are led by qualified, experienced teachers who are fully insured, DBS checked, and hold up-to-date first aid and child safeguarding certificates. This ensures a safe environment for every student.
