Karate Jutsu Kai Cranbrook

Karate Jutsu Kai Cranbrook is a martial arts school located in Cranbrook, New Zealand. The club was founded in the late 1970s by Sempai Clive Nickols and later taken over by Sempai Nigle Borne in the late 1980s. In 1999, Sensei Simon Chaplin (4th Dan) assumed the role of the instructor and has been leading the club since then.

Over the years, Karate Jutsu Kai Cranbrook has had various venues around Cranbrook but has been based at the primary school on Carriers Road for a number of years. They offer both Karate and Kickboxing classes for individuals of all ages and skill levels. The first class is free, providing a great opportunity for interested individuals to try out the classes.

The weekly class schedule consists of Karate classes held on Mondays at 18:15 for both juniors and seniors. The club offers a discounted rate of 5. 00 per session for junior classes and 7. 00 per session for adults.

There are additional discounts available for siblings and multiple sessions.

Sensei Simon, the current instructor, began his training in 1994 under the guidance of Shihan John Wilson (7th Dan) and has achieved numerous accomplishments throughout his martial arts journey. He obtained his 1st Dan in 2001, 2nd Dan in 2005, and 3rd Dan in 2012. Sensei Simon has won various medals in competitions and has been recognised with the spirited fighter award twice.

The karate school is a member of the International Karate Jutsu Kai Association, which is the only national governing body for martial arts. All instructors at Karate Jutsu Kai Cranbrook hold a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate, ensuring the safety and well-being of the students. The club is also a member of the anti-bullying alliance, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
