Join Snapper Charters for a leisurely cruise along the Jurassic Coast. Sit back and take in the breathtaking views as they make their way across Weymouth Bay to get an up-close look at some of Dorset's most iconic sights. This scenic boat trip includes stops at Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, and, if possible, Mupe Bay* (please note that Mupe Bay is sometimes closed to boats). Passengers will have the chance to capture stunning photos and admire the beautiful scenery from the sea. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way, as dolphins and seabirds may make an appearance. This is a relaxed sightseeing tour without commentary, allowing you to simply enjoy the experience. Advanced booking is essential.
The Jurassic Coast Cruise kicks off with a gentle steam down Weymouth Harbour. As the boat makes its way towards the entrance, you'll have a chance to take in the vibrant quayside, the charming lifeboat house, and the picturesque waterside cottages. Once the boat rounds the pier head and emerges into Weymouth Bay, you'll be treated to a unique and stunning view of Weymouth seafront.
As you cross the wide expanse of Weymouth Bay, enjoy the panoramic views of Ringstead, Osmington, and Portland in the distance. The boat will then get in close to the shoreline at White Nothe, where you can capture some amazing photos of the striking white cliffs.
Approaching Durdle Door, the boat will slow down and get as close to the shore as possible. You'll have a couple of minutes to admire the iconic limestone arch and snap some incredible photos. Seeing Durdle Door from the sea offers a perspective like no other, and the boat will even manoeuvre to the back of the arch for an even more special sight.
Next, a short steam will take you to the neighbouring Lulworth Cove, one of Dorset's finest beaches. The unique horseshoe-shaped cove, formed through years of erosion, holds great geological importance. During the visit, the boat will circle around the cove, allowing you to appreciate its stunning shoreline from all angles.
If conditions permit, a visit to Mupe Bay will complete the trip. Snapper Charters has a fondness for this lesser-known beach, especially at sunset. Only accessible by a long walk, Mupe Bay is rarely crowded, even during the summer months. At low tide, you'll be able to see a couple of exposed sea stacks, often frequented by resting birds. However, please keep in mind that Mupe Bay may be occasionally closed due to military exercises. In such cases, the boat will spend more time at Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.
On the return journey, be on the lookout for wildlife, including the possibility of spotting dolphins and seabirds. While wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, they enhance the magic of the trip if you're fortunate enough to encounter them. Upon spotting wildlife, the boat will slow down to allow for observation.
