The Colchester Angling Preservation Society (CAPS) is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for young anglers to dive into the world of fishing. Teaming up with the Angling Coaching Initiative (ACI), CAPS is bringing professional coaching to the club to help beginners get started in the sport. ACI is on the lookout for volunteers who are passionate about angling to lend a hand in coaching juniors and their parents or grandparents. You don't need to be a seasoned angler to volunteer - just bring your enthusiasm and a decent level of angling know-how! The coaching team will be working mainly on CAPS waters, providing valuable skills to newcomers for a long-lasting angling journey.
ACI is calling for volunteers to join the team ahead of the upcoming season. Volunteers will have the chance to coach at different local venues before eventually moving on to CAPS waters. With a student-to-coach ratio of two to one, beginners will receive the attention they need to progress in their angling skills. All ACI events are led by a qualified Angling Trust Level 2 coach who is trained in essential areas such as Risk Assessments, Safeguarding, and First Aid.
The Junior Angling Coaching Initiative is scheduled to run from May to October 2024 at CAPS and other nearby club waters. All participants will be provided with the necessary tackle and bait to get started. The coaching sessions cater to juniors aged 8 to 16, whether they are complete beginners or looking to sharpen their skills, with parental involvement strongly encouraged. Volunteers play a vital role in meeting the demand for coaching opportunities, sharing their angling expertise and experience throughout the season.
If you're interested in volunteering or want more information about the Junior Angling Coaching Initiative, don't hesitate to reach out to Chris Burt at ACI. Let's make this fishing season a memorable one for all involved!
