Welcome to Junboku Karate Academy, a martial arts school located in Brighouse. Junboku, meaning Simple and Honest in Japanese, reflects the core values of our academy. We aim to provide simple and honest karate teachings that are easy to learn and practical in application.
Established in early 2009, Junboku Karate Academy offers classes in traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate. Our founder and instructor, Andy Jackson, holds a 3rd Dan Black Belt, having been graded by 9th and 10th Dan Black Belts in Okinawa, Japan.
We hold regular evening and weekend classes in our matted Dojo. These classes are open to individuals of all ages, starting from 6 years old to adults. In fact, most of our classes are family-oriented, where parents have the opportunity to train alongside their children.
Karate is a powerful discipline that fosters self-discipline, confidence, self-esteem, and improves co-ordination and fitness. It also provides invaluable self-defence skills. At Junboku Karate Academy, we pride ourselves on teaching practical applied karate that can be effective in real-life situations, rather than simply focusing on appearances.
In addition to our regular classes, we also offer the Little Samurai Club, which is specially designed for 3 to 5-year-olds. These fun-based karate classes aim to foster discipline and confidence in young children. Our experience has shown that even at such a young age, children are capable of learning karate quickly and excelling in their skills. Classes are kept intentionally small to ensure individual attention, and they are structured and repetitive to enhance learning while remaining enjoyable for both the children and their parents.
