Yoseikan-Ryu Karate – YMCA MORLEY is excited to promote an upcoming local Mixed Martial Arts event for Ju Jitsu enthusiasts. Ju Jitsu, an exhilarating Japanese Martial Art, has withstood the test of time and has evolved into a comprehensive, highly practical self-defence and fighting style.
At Yoseikan Ju Jitsu, students develop a range of skills including punching, strikes, kicking techniques, takedowns, throwing, grappling, break falling, and pinning. It's a fantastic way to equip yourself with self-defence skills and develop self-discipline, a sense of self, physical strength, and mental acuity. Whether you're an adult or a child, beginner or advanced, our Ju Jitsu classes are suitable for everyone.
Our Ju Jitsu program has recently become an official part of the Yoseikan-Ryu martial arts family, with the first gradings taking place on April 7th, 2018. During this special event, Monica McGuire, Ola Lindblad, Daniel Levy, and Rob Rogerson were awarded belts by Branco and Ben Levy, our dedicated instructors.
Branco, the mind behind Yoseikan-Ryu's expansion of martial arts offerings, shares his excitement about the recent addition of Ju Jitsu. He mentions that having the Hombu Dojo and Ben, a 3rd Dan Ju Jitsu and 1st Dan Karate instructor, has made the process smoother. Branco laments the absence of Dave King, who would have loved being part of these classes.
Ju Jitsu's skills and techniques go hand in hand with Karate, making it highly complementary. Practising Ju Jitsu enhances the understanding of bunkai in Karate. Our classes are held on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. We happily welcome new members to join our vibrant community.
If you're interested in learning more about our Ju Jitsu classes, we encourage you to come and watch a class. Feel free to reach out to us for any additional information. Let's explore the exciting world of Ju Jitsu together!
