Page (for school age children and adults). We offer a wide range of classes to cater to the specific needs and abilities of each swimmer.
At Jolly Roger Swim School, our experienced and dedicated instructors are passionate about teaching swimming to people of all ages and abilities. Whether it's teaching babies to be comfortable in the water or helping adults improve their stroke technique, our instructors are committed to providing quality swimming lessons.
Under the new ownership of Erina Cherry, who purchased the swim school in 2023, Jolly Roger Swim School continues to prioritise the safety, development, and happiness of its students. With many years of experience in teaching swimming, Erina and the team are committed to delivering the best possible swimming lessons to each child.
Our philosophy at Jolly Roger Swim School is to work with each child's individual abilities and development, teaching them important water safety skills and the lifelong skill of swimming in a fun and safe environment. We believe in continually challenging and extending each child as they progress, ensuring they reach their full potential in the water.
We understand that consistency is significant in swimming lessons, and we strive to have the same instructor teach each class for the duration of the term. However, in cases of illness or personal reasons, a relieving instructor may be necessary. In such cases, a detailed lesson plan is provided to the reliever, ensuring a smooth transition and continuation of the swimmer's progress.
Erina Cherry, the director of Jolly Roger Swim School, is a mother herself and has been teaching with the school since January 2014. She holds a Swim Teacher Award from Swimming NZ and is also qualified in in-home childcare. Additionally, Erina has a current First Aid certificate, ensuring the safety and well-being of all our swimmers.
Rob King, another valued member of our team, brings a wealth of knowledge in the aquatic industry. With experience managing Kilbirne Aquatic Centre, Rob has been teaching with Jolly Roger Swim School since April 2013. He holds a Swim Teacher Award and is currently undergoing training in School Age and Adults. Outside his pirate hours, Rob also teaches children cycling skills.
Customer service is of utmost importance to us at Jolly Roger Swim School. We value feedback from our customers and provide a customer feedback form each term to ensure we are meeting their expectations and addressing any concerns or queries they may have. We are committed to providing the best swimming experience for both children and their parents.
