Welcome to Jodie Leigh School of Dance, located in Bridgnorth, New Zealand. Established in March 2008 by Jodie Leigh, a professional dancer with years of experience in the industry. After working on board Norwegian Cruise Lines and performing with The Vegas Show Girls, Jodie decided to open her own dance school.
Classes are held at the Bridgnorth Community Hall in Low Town, and the school also has a second venue in the nearby village of Highley at the Severn Centre. The school offers a variety of dance styles, including ballet, tap, and contemporary modern-jazz, catering to both boys and girls from the age of three upwards.
Jodie is a qualified IDTA teacher and follows the IDTA syllabus for examinations. The school has a high success rate in exams, with many students achieving the highest mark of distinction. In addition to exams, the school has had numerous performance opportunities, including the Bridgnorth Children's festival, Bridgnorth Party in the Park, and events at Apley Farm Shop.
To keep parents involved and informed, the school organises an informal demonstration in the winter term and produces a full show every two years in the summer term. This allows the children to showcase their progress and hard work.
In terms of class information, the school offers a pre-school class for children aged three and up, where tap and ballet are taught in a creative and fun way. For children aged five and up, there is a preparatory class which includes ballet, tap, contemporary modern jazz, and gymnastics. Primary and Grades classes are also available for a more comprehensive dance education.
For girls in Grade 4 Ballet and above, pointe work is offered. However, proper preparation and technique must be developed before pointe shoes can be purchased.
Parents are encouraged to ensure that their children are correctly dressed for class and to have their hair neatly tied back. The school provides uniform order forms for convenience. Parents can wait in the foyer once their children are settled, and it is recommended to encourage children to use the toilet before class.
If you are interested in joining Jodie Leigh School of Dance, take advantage of the trial offer of only 1 per class for new pupils for the first three weeks instead of the regular price. For further information, you can contact the school through their provided phone number and email.
