In addition to offering exceptional martial arts training, JKS Bradford takes pride in its connexion to the local community. The name “JKS Bradford” is derived from “Inoshishi Machi Dojo,” which translates to “The Dojo of the Town of the Wild Boar” in Japanese. The name has a unique historical significance. Legend has it that during the Middle Ages, a boar was terrorising a wood near the town of Bradford.
The Lord of the Manor offered a reward to anyone who could kill the boar. A hunter named John Nothrop successfully eliminated the boar and was rewarded with land. This event eventually led to the boar becoming the emblem of Bradford.
