Jiu-Jitsu Social is a dedicated martial arts school located in the heart of West London, just a short walk from Royal Oak station. With a focus on inclusivity and creating a welcoming environment for all levels of experience, Jiu-Jitsu Social aims to provide top-quality training to its members.
The head coach, Danny Worters, discovered martial arts in 2009 after a career as an actor and a lack of physical exercise. He became obsessed with Muay Thai for three years before stumbling into a Jiu-Jitsu gym in 2012. Drawn to Jiu-Jitsu for its ability to allow smaller individuals to train and spar with larger opponents, Danny found that training in Jiu-Jitsu helped him deal with insecurities surrounding physical confrontation. This experience opened his eyes to the positive impact Jiu-Jitsu can have on others.
Danny's teaching style at Jiu-Jitsu Social is focused on a conceptual understanding of Jiu-Jitsu principles, with an emphasis on good finishing mechanics. He believes that this approach enables smaller and weaker individuals to effectively control and submit larger opponents. Above all, Danny believes that Jiu-Jitsu should be fun. He incorporates games into his classes to help make the complex subject of Jiu-Jitsu easier to understand and enjoy.
At Jiu-Jitsu Social, safety, and consent are top priorities. Students are encouraged to speak up and express their boundaries, and the coaches always respect the word “no”. This approach creates a safe and comfortable training environment for all participants.
Jiu-Jitsu Social is open to individuals of all ages and levels of experience.
