Jedburgh Bowling Club, in Jedburgh, is one of the Scottish Borders' most progressive sports and social clubs. Established in 1859, it boasts a rich history and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2009.
In 2013, the clubhouse was completely reconstructed, now featuring state-of-the-art facilities. This new clubhouse hosts a variety of social functions throughout the year, open to both members and the public.
Located on the peaceful outskirts of town, it's an ideal spot for bowling. The season runs from mid-April to the end of September, with bounce games every afternoon and evening at 1pm and 6:30pm. Club & Open tournaments are held most weekends.
Jedburgh Bowling Club has a strong competitive spirit. The gent's league team competes in the Borders Bowling League on Wednesday nights, the ladies league team in the ladies Borders Bowling League on Tuesday nights, and the seniors in the Morning League on Tuesday mornings.
Visitors, whether new to bowling or experienced, are warmly welcomed. Friendly members are ready to assist, and equipment, including bowls and shoes, is available upon request. Free tuition is also offered by fully qualified Bowls Scotland coaches.
New members are encouraged to join, with a discounted membership fee for the first year. Membership options include Full/OAP Membership for £60 (pro rata available), Junior Membership for £10, and Social Membership for £10.
The club also hosts various events, and in 2023, they are organising two TRY BOWLS events. The first is on Saturday, 22nd April, from 2pm to 5pm, and the second on Friday, 28th April, from 6:30pm to 8pm. These events are open to anyone interested in trying Lawn Bowls, with no obligation to join the club.
