The Jayne Roy School of Dancing has been established for nearly 30 years, and we have schools based in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxton, and Glossop in the High Peak. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly and personal atmosphere, while maintaining a professional and reliable approach to dance education.

Jayne Roy, the founder of the school, trained at The Royal Academy of Dance in London and is a Licentiate member of both the RAD and ISTD. Our teachers are highly experienced and regularly undergo professional development to ensure they have the most up-to-date knowledge and skills.

We offer a variety of dance classes, including ballet, tap, and modern/jazz. Our classes are disciplined but fun, and we offer the opportunity for students to take exams with the RAD and ISTD, both of which are internationally recognised exam boards. We also offer private lessons by arrangement, including private ballroom lessons for beginners.

Whether your child wants to dance for fun or train to be a professional dancer or teacher, the Jayne Roy School of Dancing is the perfect place. We welcome students of all ages, from 3 years to adult, and pride ourselves on excellent exam results. Our vocational classes are also offered for more serious students looking to pursue a career in dance.

Ballet is a fun and challenging activity, offering many benefits for young children. It helps improve posture, develop strength and coordination, maintain fitness levels, and improve social skills. Learning ballet teaches children discipline and helps build their confidence. Even if your child doesn't pursue a career in dance, the benefits achieved will stay with them for years to come.

Our pre-primary ballet class is suitable for children aged 3 to 5 years and is an introduction to dance with an emphasis on imagination and story themes. We also offer ballet lessons that help develop a sense of rhythm and musicality, as well as the opportunity for students to form new friendships and dance together with other children.
