Students have achieved excellent exam results. Our experienced teachers are registered with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), ensuring that they have the most up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Founder Jayne Roy trained at The Royal Academy of Dance in London and is a Licentiate member of both the RAD & ISTD. She opened the Jayne Roy School of Dancing in 1984 in Chapel-en-le-Frith and has since expanded to include schools in Buxton, Glossop, and Whaley Bridge.
At our dance school, we offer a variety of classes for girls and boys aged 3 years to adult. Our classes are disciplined but fun, providing a friendly and personal atmosphere while maintaining a professional and reliable approach. Whether your child wants to dance for fun or train to be a professional dancer or teacher, we welcome pupils of all ages and abilities.
Our ballet classes not only teach children how to dance, but also offer numerous benefits. Ballet improves posture, develops strength and coordination, maintains good fitness levels, and enhances social skills. The RAD programme provides a structured syllabus that offers learning along with fun and a feeling of accomplishment. Even if your child does not pursue a career in dance, the discipline, and confidence gained from learning ballet will stay with them for years to come.
For young children aged 3-5, we offer pre-primary ballet classes that focus on imagination and storytelling through dance. Children will also develop a sense of rhythm and musicality, as they learn to coordinate their bodies in time with the music. Our pupils love forming new friendships and dancing together with other children.
In addition to ballet, we also offer tap and jazz dance classes. Our experienced teachers provide high-quality instruction and our schools in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxton, Glossop, and Whaley Bridge have a high standard of exam results. We also offer private ballroom lessons for beginners.
