With a strong emphasis on not only teaching the ins and outs of the sport, but also instilling the values of good sportsmanship, teamwork, and loyalty, the club has become a hub for young athletes looking to excel in the game.
Originally founded in 1997, the Jandakot Jets Junior Football Club began with its home ground at Anning Park Jandakot before moving to its current location at Atwell Oval in 2000, following a request from the City of Cockburn. With a growing and vibrant family community in and around the club, it has now become the largest Junior Football Club in the South Fremantle Football Club District.
The club's success has been evident through its accomplishments in the 2021 season, with three topship Teams winning their Grand Finals. From Auskick Programmes to Year 12, the Jandakot Jets offer a wide range of football opportunities for all ages and skill levels. The club boasts a membership base of nearly 700 registered members, with a particularly strong female cohort, as evidenced by the registration of six female teams in the 2021 competition.
The Jandakot Jets Junior Football Club is guided by a dedicated committee, led by President Jemma Iles. The committee consists of a diverse group of individuals who work together to ensure the smooth operation of the club and the fulfilment of its goals. From the Senior Vice President to the Auskick Coordinator, each member of the committee plays a crucial role in the club's success.
With a focus on community engagement, the club also prioritises the growth and promotion of girls' football through the All Girls Coordinator, who spearheads initiatives to encourage more girls to participate in the sport. In addition, the club has a Grants & Sponsorship Coordinator who actively seeks sponsorships to support the club and maximise its revenue.
To ensure effective communication within the club, the Jandakot Jets have an IT/Social Media Coordinator who disseminates information through various platforms such as the website, social media, and newsletters. The Property Officer manages all club equipment, ensuring that everything is in working order and maintaining an asset register.
Safety is another priority for the club. The First Aid Coordinator oversees all matters related to first aid, including training and the provision of adequate supplies for the team. This ensures that players are well taken care of in case of any injuries or medical emergencies.
With a strong emphasis on player development, a thriving community, and a dedicated committee, the Jandakot Jets Junior Football Club continues to make its mark as a leading AFL football club in Atwell.
