Irymple Basketball Association, a local basketball club in Mildura Rural City, is excited to invite boys and girls attending Prep to Grade 4 (Kindergarten to Grade 3 in NSW) to participate in our Miniball program. This introductory basketball program is all about fun and affordability, providing a safe and friendly environment for kids to learn and develop crucial social skills.
Our Miniball program has been running for over 35 years, and we have continuously improved the experience and knowledge of our organisers. We prioritise the safety and enjoyment of the children, as well as creating opportunities for parents to get involved. The program focuses on involvement, gradually building confidence, fostering a positive perspective on physical activity, and teaching basic basketball skills.
The Miniball season is structured in a way that allows players to be placed into teams on registration day, and a rotating draw is implemented. Each team participates in a 45-minute session every week, consisting of a 30-minute game and a 15-minute training session. Our coaches are present on the court during games to assist the players, and teams are formed based on similar age groups.
The season concludes with a round-robin day where all teams play each other in 15-minute games. The day ends with grand finals, and all players receive a medallion to celebrate their participation in the season. The Miniball season runs from Term 2 to September, giving players plenty of opportunities to develop their skills and enjoy the sport.
To keep costs down for families, we provide all uniform singlets, and players only need to ensure they have shorts and suitable footwear. We also supply the basketballs, so there's no need for players to bring their own equipment.
Miniball operates out of Mildura Basketball Centre, also known as The Hothouse. You can find us located at EighthSt, between San Mateo Ave and Eitwanda Ave in Mildura. During the season, each team has a game and training session every Saturday morning between 9.30 am and Midday.
Registration for Miniball is done in person on registration day, which will be held on March 23rd, 2019. We strongly encourage all intending players to attend the registration day, as games will commence on April 27th, 2019, after the school holidays and Easter. The costs per player are minimal and may vary between seasons, with a weekly fee of $5 per game.
