Ipswich Kyokushin Karate

Ipswich Kyokushin Karate Club, located in Ipswich, Queensland, has been providing quality martial arts training since 1990. Led by Club Instructor Shihan Mike Wyvill, who possesses over 30 years of experience in training and tournament fighting, the club offers stability and ongoing development for both new students and those who have trained at Kyokushin dojos elsewhere in Australia or overseas.

With a track record of guiding numerous students to achieve national championship status and high grade levels, Shihan Mike Wyvill ensures that training sessions are flexible to accommodate individual students' needs. The club also focuses on preparing students for upcoming gradings and tournaments, ensuring their growth and progress in the sport.

In addition to regular martial arts training, Ipswich Kyokushin Karate offers self-defence classes specifically designed for women upon request. The club's training schedule includes sessions on Tuesday and Thursday nights at their Dojo located on the second floor of the Trades Hall Building on 4 Bell Street. Tuesday nights consist of a junior class from 5:30 pm to 6:20 pm, followed by a senior class from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Thursday nights have sessions for all grades from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with juniors having the option to leave the class at 7:00 pm. On Sunday mornings, training sessions are occasionally held from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Sutton Park in Brassall.

Affordability is a key focus at Ipswich Kyokushin Karate Club. Senior students can train for just $10 per night or $60 per month, while high school students pay only $7 per night or $40 per month. Primary school students can train for just $5 per night or $30 per month. The initial membership fee, which includes a lifetime international membership and an annual Ipswich Club membership, is $55.

Fees for gradings, tournaments, and camps vary and are advertised in advance.

The club also offers a range of Kyokushin dogis (uniforms) ranging from $50 to $80, depending on size. These uniforms are well-made and designed to last longer than off-the-shelf options.
