Established in 2000, International Chito Ryu Karate & Fitness is a martial arts school located in Whitby, Ontario. The school offers a range of programs for individuals of all ages and skill levels, aimed at fostering physical fitness, self-defence, discipline, and personal growth through the practice of Karate-Do.
The Pee Wee Program, designed for children ages 4-6, serves as an excellent introduction to karate and martial arts for young children. The program focuses on developing basic skills and techniques in a fun and supportive environment.
For children ages 7-12, the Children's Program at ICKF offers a comprehensive martial arts curriculum that covers the three main aspects of karate: kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sport sparring). The program aims to instill discipline, focus, and confidence in young practitioners.
Adults aged 13 and up can participate in the Adult Program at International Chito Ryu Karate & Fitness. This program is highly successful and welcomes men and women of all ages and fitness levels. Participants can expect to improve their physical fitness, learn self-defence techniques, and cultivate a strong sense of community and camaraderie.
Instructor Ed Docherty, a 6th Dan Renshi, leads the team at ICKF with a dedication to providing top-quality instruction and guidance to all students. The school has been recognized for its excellence in martial arts instruction, earning the title of #1 Martial Arts Instructor and #1 Martial Arts School. Additionally, ICKF was honoured with the Diamond Award in 2019 and inducted into the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame in 2022.
