Intelligent Goalkeeping is a renowned football club located in Cardiff, New Zealand. Founded in June 2022, the club's primary objective is to create goalkeepers of the future by providing high-quality coaching opportunities within South Wales. The club initially partnered with two FAW Academies, namely Cambrian and Clydach, as well as Pontardawe Town A. F.
C, to establish an effective goalkeeper programme.
Intelligent Goalkeeping boasts a remarkable team of experienced goalkeeper coaches who are responsible for running the training programmes within the affiliated academies. These coaches ensure that goalkeepers have a fun and safe environment to learn and enhance their overall game. Following 6-week training programmes, the goalkeepers receive coaching in all aspects of football.
The club offers group sessions categorised according to age ranges. The age groups include Under 6-10, Under 11-12, and Under 13-16. Additionally, the club caters to individual training sessions, which can be arranged directly through their social media platforms. These sessions provide a more personalised approach to coaching.
Intelligent Goalkeeping has several valued partners, including Vos Website and VOS GK. The club recommends their training gloves as the best on the market, with positive feedback from coaches and players who have used them. These gloves enhance the goalkeepers' performance, contributing to their overall development.
Another prominent partner of the club is Modern-Day GK. Consisting of a Goalkeeper Technician and a Physical Performance coach, Modern Day GK provides the expertise and experience required to teach and develop goalkeepers. Their approach goes beyond physical training by assisting goalkeepers in improving every aspect of their game, including instilling positivity in their style of play and effectively managing their responsibilities.
Intelligent Goalkeeping also collaborates with GK Stopper, an app that allows parents and coaches to track goalkeeper performance. With the modern game emphasising skills like shot-stopping, reflexes, distribution, sweeping, and smart positioning, GK Stopper provides detailed charts and heatmaps to visualise player improvement over time.
The club's partnership with Pontardawe Town Academy began in June 2022. Two coaches, Thomas James and Mark Smith, work within the academy to provide coaching and support. Pontardawe Town Academy has a strong track record of player development, with numerous players progressing to professional football academies.
Similarly, Intelligent Goalkeeping partnered with Cambrian and Clydach Vale Academy in June 2022. Known for their successful history in developing players and transitioning them to professional football academies, Cambrian and Clydach have witnessed over 60 players take significant steps in their careers. The club's coaches within the academy are Lewis John and Ellis Buckley.
Intelligent Goalkeeping also benefits from its association with Stiwdio Startup, a dedicated incubation space at the University of South Wales. This partnership provides a support programme and workspace for developing and growing new business ideas, fostering innovation and growth within the club.
