Innovation Callisthenics Club Incorporated is a sports club located in the Adelaide Hills, with training locations in the suburbs of Belair, Hawthorndene, and Blackwood. The club offers the exciting and artistic sport of callisthenics to individuals of all age groups, providing them with an opportunity to develop their skills and forge lifelong friendships.
Callisthenics is a unique sport that combines both teamwork and solo performance. By participating in callisthenics, individuals can cultivate discipline, confidence, coordination, rhythm, flexibility, fitness, and strength. The sport also instils values such as perseverance, commitment, teamwork, and responsibility. At Innovation Callisthenics Club, children not only experience a sense of accomplishment through the acquisition of these skills but also thrive in a positive and nurturing environment.
With a progressive approach to coaching, the club's dedicated coaches not only prepare teams for competitions but also continue to develop fundamental skills through extension classes. These classes cover various aspects, including ballet, pilates, yoga, strength and conditioning, and apparatus technique. By offering these additional classes, Innovation Callisthenics Club ensures that participants receive well-rounded training and have the opportunity to expand their skillset.
The club is led by Kate Loveridge, the Principal Coach, who brings a wealth of experience to the team. With a coaching career spanning 39 years, Kate has been involved in callisthenics since 1995. She has achieved numerous accomplishments, such as coaching the 2008 Intermediate National Team and winning state soloists and duos. Kate is also an Accredited Level 2 Maintenance Adjudicator and is trained in ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, tap, jazz, and contemporary dance.
As a qualified Clinical Psychologist, she also has expertise in sports psychology, further enhancing the club's holistic approach to coaching.
Assisting Kate is Danae McGregor, an experienced coach who has been involved in callisthenics since 1996. Danae has a rich background in the sport, having coached teams at various age levels, including Sub-Junior, Junior, and Intermediate. She has led the Innovation Intermediate Team to victory multiple times and has also worked with state and national teams. Danae is qualified as a Callisthenics Examiner and an Accredited Adjudicator.
Her extensive knowledge and passion for the sport contribute to the club's success.
Lisa Horwood is another key member of the coaching team, serving as the Intermediate Team 2 Co-Coach and Assistant Seniors Coach. She has been a coach of the Innovation Junior Team for several years and has achieved notable accolades as a competitor, including being a CASA Senior Championship Finalist and a Royal South Street Ballarat Graceful Soloist. With a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degree, Lisa brings a well-rounded approach to coaching.
