David Smith, our dedicated and experienced organizer, wanted to share some updates and details about the upcoming dance classes at Illusion Dance Co. He is committed to fostering a sense of community and growth within our sports community and has planned diverse programs to cater to different interests and skill levels.
**Movement - Lyrical**:
Lyrical dance combines grace and fluidity, allowing dancers to connect emotionally with the music. Students will learn to interpret music through movement, focusing on technique, emotion, and storytelling. Each class will include warm-up exercises, across-the-floor combinations, and choreography to encourage expression.
**Musical Theatre (Ages 8-18)**:
In this class, elements of dance, acting, and singing come together to create performances that tell stories through song and dance. Students will learn to embody characters, convey emotions, and perform musical numbers from popular Broadway shows. Emphasis will be on acting skills, vocal technique, and dance choreography, preparing students for musical theatre performances throughout the year.
**Modern (Ages 10-18)**:
Modern dance is an expressive form that goes beyond traditional ballet and jazz techniques. It centres on creative expression, release of tension, and the fluidity of movement. Students will explore improvisation and develop their unique style, with exercises to build flexibility, strength, and body awareness. Choreography will challenge students to think creatively.
**Acro (Ages 6-18)**:
This fusion of dance and acrobatics focuses on flexibility, strength, and balance. Acro classes will cover tumbling skills, partner tricks, and balances, emphasizing control and precision. Students will learn to safely execute acrobatic elements and incorporate them into dance routines, with conditioning exercises and skill development progressions.
**3/4 Pre-Dance & Kinder Classes (Ages 3-4)**:
These introductory classes for young children focus on coordination, musicality, and basic dance skills, using creative movement activities and props. Students will learn to follow instructions, work with others, and express themselves through dance, with games, songs, and exercises to foster creativity and imagination.
David believes that dance is a powerful form of self-expression and aims to provide a supportive and inclusive environment at Illusion Dance Co. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced dancer, there is a place for you here.
