Swim City, the local swimming club in Lower Hutt, is excited to promote an upcoming swimming event at Huia Pools. Located in Lower Hutt, Huia Pools offers a wide range of activities and classes for swimmers of all ages and fitness levels.
Starting from Monday 9th October 2023, the pool hours for Term 4 are as follows:
- Main Pool: On Mondays and Wednesdays, the pool is open from 5.30am to 8pm. Tuesdays, the pool closes at 6.30pm, but during school holidays, it closes at 7pm. On Thursdays and Fridays, you can enjoy the pool from 5.30am to 7pm. Finally, on weekends, the pool opens at 8am and closes at 6pm.
- Kids Pool: If you're bringing your little ones, the kids' pool is open from 6am to 8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays, during school holidays, the pool closes at 7pm, but normally it closes at 6.20pm. Thursdays and Fridays offer the same hours as the main pool, from 6am to 7pm. On weekends, you can take your kids for a swim from 8am to 6pm.
- Hydrotherapy Pool: The Hydrotherapy pool has different opening hours throughout the week. However, on Tuesdays from 11am to 11.45am and on Fridays from 9.30am to 10.15am, it is exclusively open for walkers. The closure of the H20 pool has resulted in increased attendance for the Easy Move classes, so unfortunately, there won't be any space for walking during those times. The regular hours for the Hydrotherapy Pool are from 6am to 3pm / 6.30pm to 8pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Tuesdays, it's open from 6am to 3pm. On weekends, you can enjoy the Hydrotherapy Pool from 1pm to 6pm, and during school holidays, it will be open from 6am to 8pm on weekdays, 6am to 6.30pm on Tuesdays, and from 8am to 6pm on weekends.
- Fitness Suite: The Fitness Suite is open from 5.30am to 8pm on weekdays and from 8am to 6pm on weekends. On public holidays, you can work out from 9am to 6pm.
In addition to the regular pool and fitness activities, Huia Pools also offers Liquid Fitness Classes. You can join deep water sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 7.45pm. The Hydrotherapy Pool also hosts Easy Move classes on Tuesdays from 11am to 11.45am, Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 2.15pm, Thursdays from 9.15am to 10am, and on specific dates in January, Fridays from 9.30am to 10.15am.
During school holiday blocks, Huia Pools offers Learn To Swim lessons in the main pool. These lessons are available from Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 10.30am. Please note that the pool depth will be reduced during these lessons to ensure safety.
There are some specific dates to keep in mind. On the 3rd and 17th of February, as well as on the 2nd, 9th, and 16th of March, the pool will be closed on Saturdays, but at different times. On Good Friday, 29th March, the facility will be closed for the entire day. Furthermore, during the NZ Secondary Schools Nationals Waterpolo Competition, the main pool will be closed on Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th, and Monday 15th of April, at different times.
While the facility is open on public holidays from 9am to 6pm, it will be closed on Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Anzac Day. On Anzac Day, however, the pool will open from 1pm to 6pm.
