Hoylake School of Dance, located in Wirral, is a large independent dance school that specialises in all aspects of classical and modern theatre training. With a proud history dating back to its establishment in 1996, HSOD has earned a reputation for excellence in dance education. The school welcomes children from 3 years and upwards to come and experience a variety of dance classes.
HSOD offers a wide range of classes, including ballet, contemporary, modern jazz, tap, commercial/street, Irish dance, theatre craft, musical theatre, IDTA AcroDance, drama, and singing. The school is committed to providing high-quality training in each discipline, using syllabi from reputable organisations such as the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), and the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). In addition to dance, HSOD also offers LAMDA exams for poetry and acting, as well as musical theatre exams for senior pupils.
All classes take place at the state-of-the-art studios at Studio 1 Hundred, located at 100 Market Street, Hoylake CH47 3BD. The building is equipped with six dance studios, with five of them featuring fully sprung Harlequin dance floors. For the convenience of students and parents, the facility also includes a caf, a waiting area, and separate changing rooms for girls and boys. Additionally, there is a dedicated car park at the rear of the building.
HSOD has a strict uniform policy for all dance classes. Dancewear and shoes can be purchased from the school or from reputable dance shops, such as Cain's of Heswall. The school holds some stock, and any items that are not in stock can be ordered quickly. Orders can be placed at the caf counter or emailed directly to the office with payment made to the school account.
School t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and trousers are also available for purchase at the caf.
Fees at HSOD are collected on a termly basis. Families with multiple classes can split fees into half-termly payments, with dates provided in the newsletter. New pupils are given a fee total before their second class if they choose to continue with lessons. Charges are per class, but as students progress and take on more subjects and classes, discounts may be available.
The school also has a capped fees policy on core subjects for children taking five or more classes per week.
Hoylake School of Dance takes great pride in offering a high standard of tuition at reasonable costs. The dedicated staff and instructors are committed to nurturing the talents of their students while fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Through their dedication to excellence, HSOD has produced former students who are now working in professional musical theatre.
