Houghton Karate Club, founded in 2020 by Sensei Steve Church 3rd Dan and Sensei Paul Ruddock 3rd Dan, is part of the Zanshin Black Belt Academy, which has been established since 1976. With their extensive training and high level of karate teaching, Steve Sensei and Paul Sensei ensure that the classes are open to all ages and fitness levels.
The ethos of Houghton Karate Club is rooted in traditional Shotokan karate, but it also embraces the holistic system of karate that combines understanding of basic technique, body movement, mechanics, and application. They believe that true understanding comes from being open to learn from all those willing to share their knowledge.
Located at the Houghton And Wyton Memorial Hall, 1A St Ives Rd, Houghton, PE28 2BJ, the classes at Houghton Karate Club are held every Monday from 6pm to 7pm for both kids and adults, and every Saturday from 9am to 10am for kids and adults as well.
To give potential members a taste of karate, Houghton Karate Club offers two free karate classes. To book these free classes, individuals can call or email info@zanshinkaratedojo. Co. uk or contact them at 07730 666796.
Houghton Karate Club prides itself on being a family-oriented club that focuses on fun, fitness, and self-defence. With classes that cater to all ages, from 5 to 65, and all fitness levels, the club recognises that karate can be practised at one's own pace. The body and mind workout provided by Zanshin Karate Club is especially beneficial in today's fast-paced world, where individuals often find themselves in need of stress relief and a way to improve their overall well-being.
For adults, karate training at Houghton Karate Club offers a much-needed escape from the challenges of everyday life. It helps in relieving stress, improving fitness, flexibility, and strength. Additionally, it provides a sense of achievement and even opens up potential career opportunities for some individuals.
For children, the benefits of karate are incredible. Besides the more obvious benefits of improving fitness, confidence, and self-defence, karate helps children develop coordination, balance, agility, discipline, focus, and a sense of achievement. It also teaches important life skills, such as respect and self-control.
Houghton Karate Club understands the importance of progress at one's own pace. The club provides a supportive environment that allows individuals to learn and grow at their own speed, ensuring that everyone feels valued and accomplished in their karate journey.
