Horse Sense is an equine assisted learning centre located in Ruabon, Australia. Specialising in providing unique experiential learning experiences, Horse Sense offers a wide range of services aimed at educating and aiding individuals in personal growth and development.
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is at the core of Horse Sense's philosophy. It is a form of therapy that allows clients to develop new insights, target specific areas of their life, and learn new skills through relational experiences with horses. No prior horse experience or riding skills are required, as the focus is on building relationships and self-awareness.
Horses are chosen as the main facilitators in this programme due to their inherent qualities. They are beautiful, intelligent, sensitive, and strong beings capable of evoking strong emotions in clients, thus engaging them deeply in the learning process. Horses have the ability to regulate the nervous system of clients and can model healthy ways of living and expressing feelings. With their non-judgmental nature, horses provide a safe and trusting environment for clients.
Additionally, the natural environment contributes positively to the learning outcomes for clients.
Horse Sense offers a range of services to meet the varying needs of clients. Individual EAL sessions provide one-on-one experiences with horses, allowing clients to explore relationships, build self-awareness, develop social and emotional skills, and focus on their individual needs and goals. The 7 Session Horse Wisdom Programme offers participants the chance to interact with horses in a small group setting (4–6 people) to develop important life skills and regulation strategies.
For those interested in learning horse riding skills, Horse Sense also operates a riding school. They provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals of all levels and abilities to learn to ride and have fun with horses and ponies.
